The Village of Fox River Grove is strategically located 40 miles northwest of Chicago at the crossroads of McHenry, Cook, Lake and Kane counties in northeastern Illinois. Nearby access to the Northwest Tollway (Interstate Route 90), local commuter rail service and good arterial roadways have helped Fox River Grove develop into a comfortable residential community with a variety of retail shops.
The Village of Grayslake, established in 1895, is located in central Lake County, approximately forty (40) miles north of the Chicago business “Loop” and fourteen (14) miles west of Lake Michigan. Neighboring communities include Libertyville and Mundelein to the southeast, Gurnee to the east, Lindenhurst to the north, and Round Lake and Round Lake Beach to the west. Hainesville has the distinction of being the oldest incorporated community within Lake County (1847). It continues its long tradition of commitment to the “Quality of Life” while still meeting the demands of a growing community.
Hawthorn Woods’ government consists of a President and six Trustees. The Village President and Board of Trustees are elected to four-year terms, and serve without compensation. More than seventy Hawthorn Woods residents annually contribute their time and expertise to serve on official boards, commissions and committees.
