Vernon Hills Library Offers Something For Everyone

The Vernon Hills library offers something for everyone.  This Friday for example, the Friday Film series continues with a movie for adults.  The film, Mary and Max, begins at 2 p.m., showcasing a pen pal relationship that spans over 20 years.  Saturday mornings children can partake in their own film series, having the ability to watch short, half hour films based on classic literature, starting at 10:00 a.m.  Those children wanting a little more hands on activity can stick around for Lego Fun.

Throughout the week the Vernon Area Public Library District offers computer classes, writing workshops, author readings and more, catering to different age groups.  Last week those in Vernon Hills had a the opportunity to listen to two top female authors, Jennfer Weiner and Jen Lancaster, at the top of their field in women’s fiction.  This event was hosted by the library and held at Stevenson High School’s Performing Arts Center in Lincolnshire.

Vernon Hills Fireworks for the 4th of July

Vernon Hills 4th of July Parade and Evening Events

Vernon Hills fireworks take place on Sunday July 4th.

At 8am on the corner of Deerpath and Atrium Drive join the youngsters ages 4-12 and decorate your wagons, scooters and bikes in stars and stripes for the 4th of July and the Bike Decorating Contest. The 1st and 2nd place winners will receive a certificate for the Vernon Hills Park District Aquatic Center and all of the kids will have the opportunity to ride in the parade.

Starting on Sunday at 9am, the Vernon Hills 4th of July parade kicks off at the corner of Deerpath and Atrium Drive winding south to Sullivan Drive and then west to Aspen with the ending point at Hawthorn South Elementary School. Local business and Vernon Hills groups will parade through the streets in celebration of America’s Birthday. Take a break during the day with the family and join the celebration at Century Park located at 1001 Lakeview Pkwy Vernon Hills, IL between 6:30pm-10pm. J.P. and the Cats will be playing live under the stars and then the Vernon Hills fireworks will begin. Libertyville Fourth of July Fireworks

Sunday July 4th starting at 7:30pm located at Butler Lake Park at 810 Lake Street, Libertyville, IL the Village Band will begin to play patriotic music and other favorites in celebration of America’s Birthday. The Bandshell will fill the air with music until dusk and the Libertyville Fireworks will fly high in the sky for your family’s enjoyment. Fill up your coolers with food and drinks and pack up your grills for this Libertyville event. It is a perfect way to spend the evening with your family and enjoy all that Libertyville has to offer.

Vernon Hills Real Estate Housing Market Statistics for February 2010!

Vernon Hills Housing Market Through February 2010

This is the latest Market Data Report for Vernon Hills Homes from RANWC Year to Date:

11 homes were sold through February 2010 verses 9 homes in 2009 which is a 22.5% increase

The Average sale price through February 2010 is $430,827 verses $362,567 which is
up 18.8%.

The Medium sale price through February 2010 is $377,000 verses $346,000 in 2009 which is up 9.0%

The attached chart shows the market statistics for detached homes and highlights the surrounding towns closest to Buffalo Grove.

The great news in that Vernon Hills is that homes are selling and the pricing is moving up from 2009. The first time buyer is leading the market and is serious about purchasing as we do not for see the tax credit being extended again. The move up buyer is the market that is hardest hit and will take longer to recover. Much of that will of course depend on the job market.

Before You Put Your House on the Market Should You have it Inspected?

What should a seller do before they put the house on the market? That is a question that always comes up in my listing presentation regardless of what town you live in. Whether you are selling in Buffalo Grove, Vernon Hills, or Mundelein the house needs to show well. That means replacing broken appliances or fixing them, have the floors in good condition, updated carpeting and the house should be recently painted. In today market the home is basically in a beauty contest and you want to make the finals, along with being in a price war. The pool of buyer out there is way smaller then it used to be.

Sell Your Buffalo Grove Home More Quickly

We also suggest having a home inspection as well. Many times there may be small mold in the attic that can be fixed and addressed before the homes goes on the market as well as other issues. The home inspection issues can take longer to work out then negotiating the price. Doing a home inspection could eliminate so many issues with the contract and the cost can be under $350 to have this done.

We can also help you with a home stagger that we offer as part of our listing service. Homes that are staged generally sell much quicker then the ones that have not been.
