Stevenson High School Winter Dance Concert

The Stevenson High School Fine Arts Division will present the 2011 Winter Dance Concert Friday through Sunday, December 2-4 in the Performing Arts Center. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, December 2-3, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 4.

Arlington Heights – Frontier Dayswill be held June 30 to July 4 at Recreation Park, 500 E. Miner St. The hours are 5 to 11 p.m. June 30; 5 to midnight July 1; noon to midnight July 2 and 3; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. July 4. Frontier Days includes a carnival, food, musical performances and the annual Frontier Days Stampede and Kid’s Dash on July 3. The Fourth of July parade steps off at 10 a.m. July 4 at Highland and Oakton, travels east on Highland to Dunton and south on Dunton to Miner and east on Miner to Recreation Park. Arlington Park will host “Racing, Music and Fireworks” July 2. Races begin at 4 p.m. and the fireworks, which will last 30 minutes set to music, will take place around dusk. Admission is $10.

Barrington – The 26th Annual Barrington 4th of July Celebration will take place July 1-4 in the North Train Commuter Lot at Spring Street. The festival’s hours are 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. July 1-3 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 4. For more information, go to barrington4thofjuly.com. The parade will take place at 10 a.m. July 4 and will go down Main Street from Barrington High School to the train station.

Buffalo Grove – The Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band will perform their traditional Independence Day concert at 7 p.m. July 4 at Rotary Green, Buffalo Grove and Old Checker roads. The concert will be timed to conclude at the start of the Buffalo Grove Fireworks presentation, 9:15 p.m. For music to accompany the fireworks, tune to 88.1 FM.

Hawthorn Woods  – Music and fireworks will be featured beginning at 6:30 p.m., July 3 at Community Park, 42 Park View Lane.. Bring your own picnic or choose food and drinks from local vendors. A parade will be held July 4 followed by a flag ceremony. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Falkirk and Lagoon streets near Village Hall.

Lake Zurich – A family day begins at 9 a.m., July 3, at Paulus Park, 200 S. Rand Road. Day-long activities include entertainment, inflatable rides, swimming and kids’ games. A Taste of Summer will feature local restaurants.

Mundelein – Mundelein Community Days begins July 1 and continues through July 4 at Seymour Avenue and Courtland Street. Featured will be the Mundelein Munch, games and entertainment. A parade will be held  at 2 p.m., July 3, beginning at Village Hall on Hawley Street and traveling to  Mundelein High School. Fireworks are slated for 9:30 p.m., July 4.

Palatine – The Palatine Jaycees Hometown Fest will take place June 30 to July 4. The event includes a carnival, food, musical entertainment and an arts and crafts expo. For more information, go to palatinejaycees.org. The parade will begin on Cedar Street at 10 a.m. July 2. The fireworks show will be held on July 3 at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Round Lake – Family, food and fireworks will be featured at the  annual Independence Day celebration. The Park District’s Community Band will play patriotic favorites from 6 to 7 p.m, followed music of the 50s through the 90s from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. Events take place at the Village of Round Lake Beach’s Cultural Center Outdoor Stage, 2007 Civic Center Way.

Vernon Hills - The village holds a day-long celebration with fireworks ending the day on July 4. A bike decorating contest begins at 8 a.m. at the corner of Deerpath Road and Atrium Drive.  Contestants can ride in the parade if accompanied by an adult. The parade begins at 9 a.m. at the same place.  J.P. and the Cats will perform from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Century Park  followed by fireworks.

Another place in Buffalo Grove to visit for Mother’s Day Brunch is Winberie’s Restaurant and Bar. Winberie’s is located at 800 W. Lake Cook Road Buffalo Grove, IL 60089. Cost for this years brunch is $23.95 for adults and $6.95 for children 4-10 years old.

A quick visit to the Winberie’s website  for further information the Mother’s Day brunch I found this handy map detailing the different stations available during brunch. I called the hostess at Winberie’s for additional information and was greeted in a professional and courteous manner. I was informed that in addition to what’s on the map there will also be two more carving stations including ham, turkey, and roast leg of lamb. There will also be additional lunch entrees available through out the brunch offerings.
