On May 27, 2009, Densey Cole, a Chicago Police Officer out of the Morgan Park district, was paralyzed in a head-on collision while responding to a call. While he lay critically injured in his police SUV, a gang banger jumped into the vehicle and repeatedly told Densey that he was going to kill him as he violently moved his body around to rob and pistol whip him with his own firearm, which he then stole along with his wallet and badge.Cole was in a coma for four weeks.  Because of this tragedy, Densey and his girlfriend Mary were unable to realize the dream wedding they had been planning.
