This year’s Tree Lighting event is scheduled for Friday, December 2, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at Village Hall. Every 1st Friday of December we hold this event to welcome the holiday season. Hot Cocoa and cookies are a usual treat along with special guest, Santa! Come with your family and partake with your friends and neighbors!

Get into the holiday spirit at the annual Tree Lighting event. Santa will arrive on a fire truck to greet the boys and girls of Wauconda. Then come inside after the tree is glowing and enjoy a winter wonderland of crafts, games, and stories. Bring your camera to take a picture with Santa. Goody bags available while supplies last and light refreshments will be served.

Barrington Aglow and Tree Lighting Ceremony

Saturday December 03, 2011 – 1pm – 7pm

A holiday tradition not to be missed! Free carriage rides, strolling Madrigal Singers, hot chocolate and cookies, extended evening store hours in shops and restaurants. Santa arrives on the Barrington fire engine at 5:00 p.m. to light the Christmas tree. After his arrival, Santa will visit with children in his red Santa House on South Cook Street, checking his list twice to make sure all who visit him have been good this year. Remember to bring a camera to capture those memorable moments with Santa.

Lindenhurst Park District’s Holiday Tree Lighting

Holidays are a time for families and friends to come together. Join the Lindenhurst Park District for the traditional lighting of the Holiday Tree. Santa himself arrives in high style, escorted by the Lake Villa Volunteer Fire Department. Afterwards, enjoy snacks, juice, Free crafts for the kids, Free children’s raffle, and performances by the Engle Junction Preschool and the Lindenhurst Park District’s Dance Program. Village of Buffalo Grove Holiday Lights Recycling Program

If you plan on staying home this weekend and putting up your holiday lights, make sure to recycle your old light strands that no longer work.

THe village of Buffalo Grove is offering a no cost holiday light recycling from November 1, 2011 to February 29, 2012, all holiday string lighting and extension cords can be dropped off at either the Village Hall (M-F 8:00 am to 4:30 pm) or the Police Department (24 hours).

Garland, live greens, wreaths or other non-recyclables are not accepted in this program. This program is jointly sponsored by the Village of Buffalo Grove, the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County and Elgin Recycling. For more information please call 847-459-2530.

Buffalo Grove Days 2011: Day 2

Today is the second day of the 53rd annual Buffalo Grove Days. The food tent open at 5pm, carnival rides at 6pm, and live entertainment is at 6pm also. Make sure to plan ahead for attending Buffalo Grove Days tomorrow as there is going to be an arts and crafts fair, a BBQ challenge cook off, and blood drive to give back to the community.

Buffalo Grove Days 2011 is jam packed with events for the whole family and what a better way to close out the summer than spending it together. The Village of Buffalo Grove has done an incredible job planning this event and is just another reason why it makes sense to call Buffalo Grove, IL home.
