Get Ready For An Active Weekend in Palatine Illinois

This weekend will be an active one in Palatine Illinois. Saturday marks the 4th Extreme Trail Run 12K of the summer. The run begins at 8:100 a.m., and will start and finish at the Deer Grove West Forest Preserve in Palatine. This trail run is part of a five run series put on by Montrail/Mountain Hardware for both those looking for a fun or competitive race, email Scott Bush at sbush1002@gmail.com for more information.
Sunday is full of activity in Palatine IL as well, with both a triathlon and a 5K run/walk taking place. The Bangs Lake Triathlon will take place at its namesake, Bangs Lake starting at 6:30 a.m. The triathlon consists of a 1.5k swim, a 40 k bike and a 10k run. The Joggin for the Noggin 5K kicks off at 7:30 a.m. in downtown Palatine. This fun run/walk benefits those whose lives have been affected by brain cancer. Click here for further information about this charitable event.

Don’t Miss The Tribute to Elton John and Billy Joel at the Cuneo Mansion Wednesday July 21st. This is a great opportunity to listen to the music from two of the greatest musical men. It is going to be a beautiful evening to listen to “The Piano Man” and “Rocket Man”. Come out to the Cuneo Mansion and Gardens for some fun under the setting sun at 1350 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Vernon Hills. The Vernon Hills Event starts at 6:30p.m., admission is $10.00, children 12 and under are free.

Vernon Hills Events: Summer Celebration Festival for 2010

Get ready for this Year’s Vernon Hills Event!
The Vernon Hills Summer Celebration is fun for the whole family. Call your friends and family and invite them to the township celebration. The event starts Thursday July 15th and goes through Sunday July 18th, the hours are as follows:
Thursday: 6pm-10pm, Friday: 6pm-12am, Saturday: 1pm-12am, Sunday: 1pm-10pm
Vernon Hills Days includes rides, family activities, Thursday night fireworks, bingo,food, free concerts and more. Who Could Ask For More on this lovely upcoming weekend. The carnival covers 3 acres of Century Park located off of Lakeview Parkway and Route 60. Some of the bands playing are Vertical Horizon, Mr. Slate, Cavern Slate, Arra and the Smithereens.
Rides will be provided by Windy City Amusements and don’t miss all the games and prizes. Free parking and shuttle service are available parking is available at the upper lot near the Macy’s entrance. A free continuous shuttle bus runs between the lot and the grounds during the Celebration.

Vernon Hills 4th of July Parade and Evening Events
Vernon Hills fireworks take place on Sunday July 4th.
At 8am on the corner of Deerpath and Atrium Drive join the youngsters ages 4-12 and decorate your wagons, scooters and bikes in stars and stripes for the 4th of July and the Bike Decorating Contest. The 1st and 2nd place winners will receive a certificate for the Vernon Hills Park District Aquatic Center and all of the kids will have the opportunity to ride in the parade.
Starting on Sunday at 9am, the Vernon Hills 4th of July parade kicks off at the corner of Deerpath and Atrium Drive winding south to Sullivan Drive and then west to Aspen with the ending point at Hawthorn South Elementary School. Local business and Vernon Hills groups will parade through the streets in celebration of America’s Birthday. Take a break during the day with the family and join the celebration at Century Park located at 1001 Lakeview Pkwy Vernon Hills, IL between 6:30pm-10pm. J.P. and the Cats will be playing live under the stars and then the Vernon Hills fireworks will begin. Barrington is having its annual 4th of July Festival Wednesday June 30, 2010 – Saturday July 03, 2010. Come out and enjoy live entertainment, games, brat and beer tent, food vendors. The 4 days of family fun include face painting, the Euro Bungy, a rock climbing wall, a parade, kids arts and crafts, food, live music and more. June 25, 2010 by Alicia · Leave a Comment Sunday, July 4th at 7pm, the Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band will kick off a live concert at the Rotary Village Green for the Buffalo Grove Independence Day celebration followed by Fireworks at 9:15p.m. For two hours the band will play contemporary music, including Broadway, pop and jazz and classical music. The BG singers will accompany the full range band, they are very impressive and great for your family’s enjoyment. Pack up your picnic basket, grab your blanket and your chairs and come out to enjoy the Buffalo Grove Festivities. Don’t forget your radio and tune into 88.1FM, the village has put together a compilation of music that compliments the firework show. The Buffalo Grove Fireworks can also be seen from The Rotary Village Green where the live concert will take place, the Buffalo Grove Golf Course located at 48 Raupp Boulevard, Buffalo Grove, IL and Willow Stream Park located at 600 Farringtong Drive Buffalo Grove, IL.
